The Valencian Perico Sambeat is undoubtedly one of the most important jazzmen of the last few decades. A travelling companion of Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Mark Turner, among others, and also linked to figures such as Tete Montoliu, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny and Enrique Morente, Sambeat is also known for his commitment to the new talents on our jazz scene. A good example is this big ensemble founded through a creative and teaching project at the Taller de Músics. The master (Sambeat) and his disciples (Taller de Músics Ensemble) work with a contemporary jazz repertoire including pieces by Perico himself and some of his most advanced students. The Plaça Reial gets all dressed up to welcome the present and future of jazz. The kind of opening the Mas i Mas Festival deserves on this stage.
