It’s probably impossible to say what would have happened if Harlem had been a neighbourhood of Kingston. But with the Goliard Collective, we can just begin to imagine it, as this group was founded at the Taller de Músics with the healthy intention of seeing what jazz and swing pieces, not to mention songs by the Beatles, Madonna and Alicia Keys, would sound like given a heavy Jamaican twist. It may be a risky approach to take, but the results are delicious.
