Megan Visagie | East Broadway NY Vibration — modern jazz, funk, and rhythmic exploration
Megan Visagie, a 19-year-old London-based drummer, has quickly made her mark on the international jazz scene. In September 2025, she made the leap to New York to study at the Tribeca Jazz Institute in Manhattan, where she is already attracting the attention of musicians and industry professionals across the city.
Before moving, Megan stood out in London venues such as PizzaExpress Live and Jazz Café, performing alongside emerging young talents. Her style draws on influences like Art Taylor, Sid Catlett, and Max Roach, blending tradition and freshness in every performance.
The quartet accompanying her features Bruce Barth on piano, Jo Phillips on tenor saxophone, Leon Buckley on saxophones, and Masa Kamaguchi on double bass. Together, they explore compositions inspired by Thad Jones, Bud Powell, and Kenny Barron, as well as original works by the band members themselves, engaging in a constant dialogue between swing, improvisation, and groove.
Her music conveys energy, precision, and creativity, keeping the spirit of jazz alive while incorporating elements of funk and contemporary exploration.
Why shouldn’t you miss her?
Because Megan Visagie brings a fresh energy to every performance, combining technique, musicality, and rhythmic power within a top-tier quartet that turns each concert into an intense and immersive experience.
The Global Music Foundation presents the GMF Barcelona Jazz Workshop 2026, a musical celebration combining jazz, blues, and Latin music in concerts, workshops, and late-night sessions with world-class artists.
